Build an Icosa Hut

Hands-on Workshop at Blissful Family Mountain Center

Build an Icosa HutGuided by Paul BlakeOrganized by Blissful Family Mountain Center

The Icosa Hut is a pentagonal-shape dome shelter made almost exclusively by recycled materials. The name ‘Icosa’ comes from the word icosahedron, which has 20 equilateral triangular faces.

This workshop is designed for those with little or no building experience who want to build a small eco-friendly shelter. You will learn the basic concepts of the Icosa Hut and how to build it using locally available recycled materials. Whether you want to expand the living space in your own yard or build a separate shelter in the mountains, this workshop will provide the skills to pursue your own shelter construction project. In addition to hands-on experience focused on framing, discussions on foundation, siding, roofing, lighting, insulation, and window/skylight/door installation will be integrated into the workshop. At the end of this workshop, a complete set of drawings and materials list to construct your own Icosa Hut will be available.
